[Washington, DC] -The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association President and CEO Michael O'Brien issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act.
"NLBMDA recognizes today's Supreme Court decision ruling the Affordable Care Act constitutional will have a major impact on the health care debate in Washington. However, the decision does nothing to address the affordability of health care for many small employers.
As we have stated from the beginning of the discussion on health care reform, the small business relief contained in the Affordable Care Act is targeted only to the smallest of businesses, leaving out the majority of building material dealers. NLBMDA remains concerned about the burden of meeting the requirements of the Affordable Care Act and supports reforms to lessen its impact on employers' ability to provide required benefit levels to industry employees.
We will continue to work with Congress, the Administration and the broader business community to identify and seek ways to make health care more affordable and reduce the burdens from the Affordable Care Act on America's building material dealers."
