As the voice for lumber dealers on Capitol Hill, NLBMDA regularly partners with other organizations and participates in coalition. 2016  Coalition Letters:

As part of its advocacy program, NLBMDA signs on to letters to Congress in support of policies and/or legislation that help the LBM industry. In select instances, such as with the Innocent Sellers Fairness Act (H.R. 1199), NLBMDA organizes letters in support of legislation. Signing on to letters with like-minded organizations allows NLBMDA to expand its reach on Capitol Hill.

January 6, 2016 – Multi-industry letter to the House of Representatives in support of the Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act (H.R. 712).

2015 Coalition Letters:

December 7 – Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity letter to Congress asking members to weigh-in with the Department of Labor, Office of Management and Budget’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, and other agencies in the Administration to reconsider DOL’s proposed Overtime Rule.

December 1 – Coalition letter to House Leadership in support of "Blackburn/Schrader” language in the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act (H.R. 8).

December 1 – Stop the HIT Coalition letter to House and Senate Leadership in support of repealing the health insurance tax.

November 17 – Hours of Service Coalition letter to House Appropriators.

October 8 – High Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition in support of expired energy efficiency tax credits.

September 15- Letter to Senate in Support of Federal Forest Management

September 14 -- Letter signed by 387 organizations to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in support of the Regulatory Accountability Act (S. 2006)

September 10 -- "Tax Extenders” support letter to both the House and Senate

July 23 -- Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity letter to the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections in opposition to the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rule changes

July 2 -- Letter to Congress in Support of the Resilient Federal Forests Acts of 2015 (H.R. 2647)

June 16 -- Building and industry letter to the House Energy & Commerce Committee to include the "Blackburn-Schrader” language as part of comprehensive energy legislation
